Boles Station #1 was built in 1944 by the members of the Gray Summit Fire Department. The station stood in the same location as it does today. In fact the farthest door to the south is what remains of the original building. Several years later a second door was added for another truck. Then in 1999 the addition of a 2 story building, included a kitchen and an upstairs training room. With the purchase of a new truck, the bay doors had to be made much larger. The firehouse still has 4 pieces of equipment today. Within the last few years the training room has moved to station 2 in Labadie and the upstairs has been converted to a crew quarters so the house can be manned 24 hours a day. Future plans do include a new station.
