ISO TESTING TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR November!
We are currently training vigorously to
achieve the best possible rating on our ISO test. ISO testing is a rate given from 1-10 with 1
as the best score and 10 as the highest score. Our current rates are 7 for hydrant areas and
9 for non hydrant areas. This rating was tested in the mid 80's. The
national average is 6 and only 2 Districts in the US are rated at a 1.
This rating is given to the fire districts,
but it reflects on homeowners insurance rates.

Station 1 (Gray Summit) and Station 2 (Labadie) will be manned full time
24 hours a day-7days a week beginning in March. The stations will
be manned with 2 personnel at each station to bring the very important
first truck out of the door and to an emergency scene. The reserve
members of the District will follow directly, to bring additional
equipment and personnel. The other 2 stations: Station 3 in Villa
Ridge and Station 4 in St. Albans will remain reserve only
stations. The District is always accepting applications for
reserve members. |

DISTRICT BATTLES 2 FIRES IN POOR WEATHER
Last week a fire destroyed one home on Camelot Acres Lane in Villa Ridge,
and damaged another on Puetz Lane in Gray Summit. Firefighters worked long
hours in freezing temperatures at both scenes. The District warns
residents to make sure the lint traps are clean in their dryers often, and to
examine their gas and electrical appliances to make sure they are in good
working order.
IMPORTANT:
If any family members sleep in the basement, be sure to have a FIRE ESCAPE PLAN.
